Mini gastric bypass (MGB), a combined restrictive and malabsorptive technique, is a frequently applied surgical technique. Mini gastric bypass involves fewer anastomoses, and the anastomosis is performed distal to the long gastric pouch.
Mini gastric bypass stands out in terms of better weight loss and being more effective in healing comorbid diseases when compared to volume restrictive techniques. With the technique, which provides very effective weight loss, the loss of excess weight is 20% in the first month, 51% in the sixth month, and 77% at the end of the second year. It is a surgery that can be performed with less anastomosis than RYGB, which is a similar technique.
