Although there are dozens of benign diseases of the large intestine, the most common are; Ulcerative colitis, Crohn's disease, microbial colitis conditions such as dysentery, colon polyps, diverticulosis coli, diverticulitis, irritable (spastic) colon. All these disorders are followed up with drug treatment.

One of the most important diseases of the large intestine is polyps. These have a handle or a wide base and appear in different sizes. Large intestine polyps are precursors of cancer, meaning cancers develop from them. For this reason, they must be removed.

  • The most important disease of the large intestine is cancer.

  • Cancer investigation should be performed in patients presenting with constipation, weight loss, abdominal pain and rectal bleeding. Patients should be examined for this purpose, and the stage of the disease should be determined by performing procedures such as colonoscopy, biopsy, whole abdominal tomography and PET-CT.

  • While patients diagnosed with cancer are treated with surgery, preoperative chemotherapy (neoadjuvant td) may be required for cancers located in the rectum.

  • Patients diagnosed with cancer should preferably undergo surgery using a closed (laparoscopic) surgical method after preparation for surgery. In laparoscopic treatments, the hospital stay is reduced and there is less pain and scarring.

  • Patients without any problems are discharged after approximately 5-7 days of hospitalization after the surgery.

  • After the wounds heal, patients are treated and followed up in the oncology clinic.

  • Chemo-radiotherapy may not be necessary in tumors that can be detected at an early stage.
